System requirements and install size
Minimum is Windows 7, an Intel Core i3, 8 GB RAM, a GT1030, DirectX 11 and 10 GB of space. Recommended is Windows 10, an i5, 16 GB and 12 GB. Nothing here needs a modern GPU.

Psycho-Sleuth is a 2D visual novel with 3D backgrounds, which puts it in a strange spot on the requirements ladder: the specs are low, but not as low as the genre usually goes. Here is the official table, followed by what each line actually means for a real machine.
Minimum and recommended
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 7 or higher | Windows 10 or higher |
| Processor | Intel Core i3 | Intel Core i5 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GT1030 or higher | GeForce GT1030 or higher |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Storage | 10 GB available space | 12 GB available space |
| Sound card | DirectX compatible | DirectX compatible |
| Notes | Recommended resolution 1920×1080 | Recommended resolution 1920×1080 |
Two things stand out. The graphics card is the same on both lists — a GT1030, which is a 2017 entry-level card — and the recommended tier only raises the CPU, the RAM and the install size. That is a strong signal that the game is not GPU-bound: it is loading a lot of art and animation frames, and it wants memory and disk rather than shading power.
What each line means
Windows 7 minimum. A genuine Windows 7 target is rare in 2026 and it is worth taking literally: this is a DirectX 11 renderer with no DX12 requirement. If you are on Windows 8.1 or an old laptop build, it should still launch.
Core i3 / i5. The distinction here is about scene transitions and background streaming, not frame rate. If your CPU is older than a Skylake i3, expect longer loads between rooms; the game itself will still run.
8 GB vs 16 GB. This is the line that matters most in practice. 8 GB is enough to run the game on a clean machine; 16 GB is what you want if you keep a browser open on a second monitor, which is how most people play a visual novel. If your machine has 8 GB and no swap headroom, close the browser.
GT1030 both tiers. No GPU upgrade will improve this game meaningfully. If you have integrated graphics newer than Intel UHD 620, you are probably at or above the GT1030's level; if you have an older integrated chip, the game may still run, but that is the one specification worth testing before you buy — and the free demo exists for exactly that.
DirectX 11. Non-negotiable on Windows. Nothing exotic.
10 GB vs 12 GB. See below.
The 10 GB question
The minimum says 10 GB, the recommended says 12 GB. The difference is not a patch or a language pack — it is headroom. A 10 GB install fits on a 10 GB drive only in theory: Windows needs working space during installation, and the game writes save files and shader caches after that.
Practical answer: treat 12 GB as the real number. On a 128 GB laptop SSD with Windows installed, 12 GB is usually not the problem — but check before you buy, because a full drive causes stutter that looks like a performance bug and is not one.
If you are installing to a secondary drive, a SATA SSD is fine. The game streams background art, and a mechanical drive will make scene transitions noticeably slower, though nothing will break.
The resolution note
"Recommended resolution 1920×1080" appears on both tiers. That is the resolution the art was authored for: the CGs are 1920×1080, and the UI is laid out for a 16:9 desktop frame.
On a 1440p monitor the game will scale; on an ultrawide it will letterbox or stretch depending on the display mode. On a 1366×768 laptop it will run, with smaller text — and since the game is text-heavy with a Japanese voice track, small text is a real problem. If you play on a low-resolution laptop, use the subtitle size options in the settings file.
Laptops, and the one thing to check
The GT1030 target is the key compatibility marker. A modern laptop with an integrated Iris Xe or Radeon 680M clears it comfortably. An older laptop with Intel HD 520 does not, and that is the machine most likely to struggle.
Three checks before you buy, in order of speed:
| Check | How |
|---|---|
| Does the demo run acceptably? | Free, two hours, same engine as the full game |
| How much free disk space? | You want 12 GB plus Windows headroom |
| Is the laptop on integrated graphics? | Anything from the last five years should be fine |
What it does not need
No SSD requirement, no 16 GB minimum, no DX12, no AVX2 instruction set mentioned, no always-online connection. It is a single-player game with cloud saves through Steam, and it will run offline after installation.
For platform-specific questions, the Deck file covers handheld and controller support, which is the one place this game's compatibility story gets complicated.
Specifications are copied from the Steam store page's system requirements block on 6 November 2026; the interpretation of what each line means for real hardware is this site's reading, not a developer statement.
