Known issues on the launch build
Launch-week reports cluster on four things: a softlock in the opening Chapter 1 argument, a DualShock 4 controller that is not recognised, images that display flipped, and a gore toggle that some players want off. There is also a standing complaint about spoilers in store screenshots.

Everything on this page comes from player reports on the official Steam discussion hub during the first forty-eight hours after launch, plus the developers' own patch notes where they touch the same ground. Where a report is unconfirmed by the studio, it is labelled as a player report. Nothing here is a claim that a bug is fixed unless the developers said so.
The game shipped on 4 November 2026, so this is a two-day-old list. It will change faster than any guide can track; the Steam hub thread for each issue is the live source.
The list
| Report | Symptom | What to try | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Softlock in the opening argument | The first Chapter 1 debate stops responding; no input registers | Reload an earlier save and re-enter the scene; do not wait on the frozen screen | Multiple player reports, no developer statement yet |
| Trial bug after the demo section | Crash or stall in the trial chapter that follows the demo's content | Same workaround: save before every trial, keep more than one slot | Reported in the Chinese-language bug thread |
| DualShock 4 not recognised | PS4 pad not detected, or Xbox prompts instead of PlayStation ones | Enable the controller type in Steam settings, try Steam Input on/off, rebind | Player report |
| Images display backwards | Some artwork appears mirrored | Check the Gore Display and display settings; report the specific scene | Player report, two threads |
| Gore Display toggle | Players want the blood toned down and cannot find the option | Settings menu, display or content section — it is on by default | Developers confirmed the toggle exists in the streaming guidelines |
| Store images spoil a scene | Screenshots on the store page show a late-game moment | Avoid the store gallery until you finish Chapter 1 | Player complaint, widely agreed |
| Deduction feels unintuitive | Debate logic does not land for some players | Read the disorder profile before arguing; accept more statements | Player feedback, not a bug |
| Demo save transfer | Unsure whether demo progress carries over | Check whether Continue is available on a fresh install | Question, not a bug |
The softlock, in detail
This is the one that matters, because it is the most-reported issue and it happens in the first hour.
The pattern players describe is consistent: the initial argument in Chapter 1 begins, a statement is presented, and then nothing. The timer may keep running or may stop. Input does not advance the scene. Reloading from an autosave can drop you back into the same frozen state.
What has worked for players who reported back:
- Load a manual save from before the argument, not the autosave taken inside it. If you have been relying on autosaves only, this is the reason to start making manual ones.
- Do not alt-tab during the scene. Several reports correlate the freeze with switching windows mid-argument, though that may be coincidence.
- If you are already frozen, close the game rather than waiting. The scene does not recover on its own in any report so far.
The deeper fix is a patch, and the developers have a track record of fast turnaround on this build: the demo was patched four times in a year, twice in direct response to feedback. Check the Steam news feed before assuming the issue is still live.
The controller problem
The DualShock 4 report has two shapes, and they have different fixes:
Not detected at all. Steam is not passing the pad to the game. Open Steam settings, controller section, and make sure PlayStation controller support is enabled. Then restart the game — controller detection happens at launch, not on hot-plug.
Detected but wrong prompts. The game is reading the pad as an Xbox controller through Steam Input. Either turn Steam Input off for this game so the game reads the pad natively, or accept the Xbox glyphs.
The controls themselves are rebindable, which covers the third case where a pad button simply is not mapped to the debate action you expect.
The gore toggle
The developers documented this in their streaming guidelines rather than in a patch note: gore is displayed in full by default, and there is a Gore Display option under Settings to adjust it. If you are streaming, that is the setting to change before your first murder scene, not after.
The spoiler problem
A thread titled "HUGE MEGA SPOILER IN STORE IMAGES" has been up since launch, and it is not wrong: the store screenshot gallery includes at least one image from a moment players would rather have discovered in context. This site does not reproduce that image.
The practical advice is the obvious one: do not scroll the store gallery looking for more screenshots after you have decided to buy. The chapter 1 walkthrough uses only images from the opening case.
What to do before reporting
Four steps that resolve most reports without a patch:
| Step | Why |
|---|---|
| Verify game files in Steam | Fixes corrupted downloads, which cause stalls that look like softlocks |
| Make a manual save before every trial | The single most useful habit in this game right now |
| Disable overlays | Discord, GeForce and Steam overlay can interfere with input capture in fullscreen |
| Check the Steam hub thread | Someone has usually posted a workaround within hours |
If none of that helps, the support address on the store page is [email protected], and the Steam hub is where the developers have been responding fastest.
Known non-issues
Two things that look like bugs and are not:
The demo no longer matching your memory. Chapter 1 was substantially revised for launch — extra clues, reworked pacing, new voice lines. That is a deliberate change, not a regression.
Steam Deck showing Unsupported. That is a documented compatibility rating, not a bug in your setup. The Deck file explains it.
Report details are from threads on the official Steam discussion hub dated 4–6 November 2026; the gore toggle is from the official streaming guidelines; the patch cadence is from the official announcement history. Checked 6 November 2026.
